Thanks for joining us on this journey of building a consistent habit of reading our Bibles every day. The Bible reading plan we are using this year can be found here: One Year Bible or here on the Bible app. As always, if you miss a day, don’t feel compelled to go back and catch up. Just skip it and start back on today’s date. I am reading the NLT this year, but feel free to use whatever version you prefer. Now here are some thoughts from today’s readings:
Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
- Luke 12:25
What a challenging verse! It’s so practical and so true. How often do we live in worry? For most people the answer is, a lot. How often does it help us or add value to our lives? If we are are honest with ourselves, the truth is, never. Once we come to terms with that realization, we find that the only thing we should worry about is how we are going to stop worrying!
Here is the key: we cannot add an hour to our lives by worrying, or by any method for that matter. In fact, you can apply this verse to all of your resources, not just time. Have you ever heard of a professional worrier? People don’t get paid to worry (even if they joke that they do). You can’t add money, love, peace, joy, happiness, relationships, or anything else worth having to your life by worrying. Worry is literally worthless.
By trusting in both the power and the heart of God, we can live worry-free lives. When we really believe that our all powerful heavenly Father is going to help us and make up for where we fail, then worry becomes a thing of the past. So, what are you worrying about today? At the core, you may just find that it’s in an area of your life in which you are not trusting Jesus completely. Here’s the good news: you can start trusting Him with that area today.
What are you worrying about? Are you trusting God in that area?
