Thanks for joining us on this journey of building a consistent habit of reading our Bibles every day. The Bible reading plan we are using this year can be found here: One Year Bible or here on the Bible app. As always, if you miss a day, don’t feel compelled to go back and catch up. Just skip it and start back on today’s date. I am reading the NLT this year, but feel free to use whatever version you prefer. Now here are some thoughts from today’s readings:
Jesus responded, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm.
– Matthew 8:26
Here we see the disciples in a boat with Jesus during a big storm. They get scared and go down to find Jesus sleeping in the boat. They, of course, wake Him and ask Him to save them . That sounds like faith doesn’t it? Why then does Jesus call it little faith?
In God’s view, great faith is not asking God to deliver you FROM something, but trusting God to carry you THROUGH it! Jesus was resting because He knew God would carry Him through the storm. He wasn’t at all scared and didn’t need the storm to stop. That’s great faith! How about you? Is there an area in your life that you have been asking God to get you out of? Is it possible He wants to give you peace in the middle of your situation? My God won’t calm a storm you can’t sleep through.
